9.c) Approve Recycling Agreement between City of Scanda and SRC Inc. Meeting Date: 2/19/2008 Agenda Item: �', G� City Council Agenda Report City of Scandia 14727 209�' St. North Scandia, MN 55073 (651)433-2274 Action Requested: 1) Hear a brief report from SRC, Inc. on the new one-container recycling system, and 2) approve an extension of the recycling agreement with SRC Incorporated to December 31,2008. Deadline/Timeline: The current agreement expired on December 31,2007. Background: • SRC recently supplied new recycling containers to Scandia residents. A representadve of the company will be present at the February 19 meeting to update the Council on the new system. • In Mazch of 2001 New Scandia Township entered into a contract for collecting and disposing of recyclable materials. The agreement has been extended three times. • SRC is willing to extend the agreement at the same contract price that has been in effect since 2001--$2,320.50 per month. • The contract is within the amount budgeted for 2008. Grant revenue from Washington County helps offset a portion of this expense. Recommendation: I recommend that the Council hear the presentation, and then approve extending the agreement.
