PW Staff report:
Skate Park equipment:

Currently we have three quotes for equipment replacement:
Rampart: $14,445 per quarter pipe
Reese Recreation: $21,721.00 Rhino A3 system
American Ramps: $25,630.62 - $1,952.41 (installation) — $3663.51(wedge,flat,stair)
= $20,014.70
Staff is willing to move forward on a proposal for purchase from American ramps if the
PRC is still in support of the ramp replacement.
SHIP Grant submitted:
The SHIP grant for the bike station and some improvements to the warming house have
been submitted to the MDH and Washington Co. for review. Staff thanks Jannie, Carol,
and Neil for their help and efforts grant writing. With the anticipation the grant request
may be approved, the PRC needs to discuss the funding needed moving forward to
keep the warming house open to the public for an extra 6-8 months. At this time the
cleaning costs are $75 per month and in addition there would be a cost for daily checks
by staff, extra paper and cleaning products, and possible calls on weekends for
unplanned urgent matters. If the grant is not approved the PRC should discuss how to
proceed with offering public access to the building in the summer months and form a
proposal to submit before council.
T -Ball trail:
Staff has contacted the watershed district for confirmation in the form of a letter to
inform the city that they have no issues with the trail construction as long as we follow
basic erosion control standards. Due to City policy we should submit a report to the
planning committee to review. In my opinion it is a non -issue since it is a natural path
and not a driveway or a structure.
Hay Lake wind / sun barrier:
Staff measured and submitted vendors for prices on shading for the Hay Lake shelter.
Prices quoted are below. Staff feels the prices are reasonable and that if installed, the
renters of the shelter would have access to the mechanism to drop the shades. Shades
would need to be raised by the renters to receive their deposit returned.
Roll -a shade — Submitted for quote — hope to have by meeting time.
Select Blinds — 8' H x 7'W — $142 to $261
Eclipse Shading Systems - Custom Upholstery and Awnings Center — $760.00
Summer Part-time employee:
Staff has prepared a request for the part-time position for the upcoming work session.
We hope to advertise a soon as possible and complete the interview process before the
grass starts to grow.

Below is the pricing breakdown without the grind box. If you choose to purchase through our Sourcewell (formally
NJPA) National Contract, you can take an additional 7% off of the total. Most of our clients elect to procure through
Sourcewell, especially in Minnesota.
We could also include an flat grind rail instead of the grindbox popular feature that only adds a few hundred dollars to
the cost.
This Pro Series Equipment requires the least amount of maintenance of any ramp options and has a 20 year
warranty. Attached is a picture of a similar layout we installed in Coon Rapids a few years ago.

Adam,
Thank you for reaching out about the skatepark equipment. It is fairly common that we get a request like yours that
requires the ramps to be moved for the winter. We do a lot of work in the Northern US and Canada and often hockey
rinks are used as skateparks in the summer. Several years ago we developed a product line with forklift channels to
meet the specific mobile need called Pro Portable.
I have attached 3 different design options at different price points. You will notice one of the options has a pump track
which might be something you would want o consider as it is easy to breakdown and store. I will try to call you to
discuss further but feel free to respond with any questions or thoughts.
