9.c) Res 03-17-15-04 Broadband Grant FundingCITY OF SCANDIA RESOLUTION NO.3-17-15-04 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF FUNDING FOR BORDER TO BORDER BROADBAND DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS the League of Minnesota Cities, the Minnesota School Boards Association, the Association Minnesota Counties, and the Minnesota Association of Townships support additional funding for the Border to Border Broadband Development Grant Program included in House File 593, and WHEREAS the City believes that increasing access to high speed internet is as a crucial way to keep Minnesota competitive, grow jobs, deliver jobs, deliver education services and improve our state's quality of life, and WHEREAS the continuation of the grant program would allow for additional partnerships with both public and private entities to build out higher cost connections, and WHEREAS the City believes, that in order to achieve its legislatively enacted goals on broadband speed, statewide coverage, and broadband adoption the State must continue to make it a priority to fund broadband infrastructure development, and WHEREAS the City has supported a public -private application with Midcontinent Communications for past program funding to serve underserved areas in Scandia and the surrounding area, and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Scandia fully supports funding of the Border - to -Border Broadband Grant Program to serve both underserved areas in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Statistical Area and Greater Minnesota.
