9.k Contact for employment related tasks Staff Report Date of Meeting: May 21, 2019 To: City Council From: City Attorney Eric Sherburne Re: Designating a Contact for Employment Related Tasks Perhaps the Council would consider designating an appropriate individual who could act in the stead of a City Administrator for responsive employment-related tasks. In connection with this recent matter, we have discovered that we need somebody to have access to personnel files (as needed) and somebody to be able to sign Employee Action Forms. This is in addition to having somebody to receive and respond to grievances initially, of course. One could also imagine other employment- related tasks the City Administrator might otherwise handle, like processing time-off requests, signing timecards, receiving complaints, etc. By the way, if any employment-related issues were to arise before a new City Administrator is in place, we all now have a better handle on how we could respond to them, even without a designated individual.
