Date of Meeting: May 19, 2015

From: Kristina Handt, City Administrator
Re: Step Increase, Egelkraut
Background:
In July 2013 the City Council approved City of Scandia Compensation Policy (Resolution 07-16-13-
03). Under the policy, each year on an employee’s anniversary date following a satisfactory
performance review and with approval by the City Council, the employee is eligible to receive a step
increase.
Egelkraut began employment with the City of Scandia on June 11, 2007.
Issue:
Should the City Council approve the step increase for Maintenance Worker Mike Egelkraut?
Proposal Details:
On May 14, 2015 Director of Public Works Kieffer gave Maintenance Worker Egelkraut his annual
review. A review of work completed over the past year as it relates to Egelkraut’s job duties was
discussed and goals were established for the coming year.
After reviewing Egelkraut’s performance for the entirety of the past year, t he Public Works Director
and City Administrator are recommending Egelkraut receive a step increase. His new hourly rate of
pay would be at a Step 11 ($24.78).
Options:
1) Approve the step increase effective June 11, 2015
2) Do not approve the step increase
Recommendation:
Option 1.
