7.a)1) Staff Report-Vinterfest Donation Guidelines Staff Report Date of Meeting: May 19, 2015 To: City Council From: Judi Negus, Office Assistant Re: Vinterfest Donation Guidelines Background: After this past year’s Vinterfest, The Parks and Recreation Committee accepted a flat rate donation of $500 from Roberts Family Funeral Home to support maintenance at the Wojtowicz Skating Park. The Parks and Recreation Committee also accepted a 50% net profit donation of $1,264 from Meister’s Bar and Grill to support Lilleskogen park improvements. The Parks and Recreation Committee determined the need to make expectations for donations consistent and to establish guidelines for donations for future Vinterfest community celebrations. Issue: Should the City Council approve the recommended guidelines for Vinterfest donations? Proposal Details: The Parks and Recreation is recommending the following guidelines for Vinterfest donations made to support Lilleskogen and the Wojtowicz Skating Park. For-profits: 50% of the proceeds Scandia non-profits: $200 donation (to receive 100 Vinterfest buttons at $2/piec e and sell for a profit as an option) or in-kind donation valued at approximately $200 Other Non-profits: Minimum $500 donation (with preference given to local non-profits) PRC: No donation required; consideration of alternative donations on special case proposals Fiscal Impact: Will depend on the number of participants. Options: 1. Approve the recommended minimum donation requirements. 2. Approve another amount of required minimum donations. 3. Do not approve any minimum donation requirement. Recommendation: Option 1.
