Subject: comments for tonight
hi Christina, I just have a couple of comments for tonight's meeting. I'm on my phone so please excuse brevity and
typos.
I'm little confused by the section of definitions, with regard to Solar Gardens. I'm not able to check from here but our
proposed definition of solar garden needs to be consistent with that of the legislature. The section which says "(but not
for export to the wholesale market or connection to the electric transmission grid.)" How else is a system under
Minnesota's solar program going to be distributed except through the grid?
Under Section 2 4.34 subsection 2 (G), liability insurance: this amount seems like it should be different for a 20 kW
system than for a 50 megawatt system. do we have any resources which indicate recommended / needed amounts for a
given system?
I also agree with Duane Hebert, questioning the restriction of 5 acres or more for a system of any kind or size. This
limitation does not seem to be driven by data but by feel. This is perhaps an example of where we should distinguish
between primary and accessory use.
I will send further comments if I am able.
Thanks, Jan
