Winter Play by the Asylum theatre Former Marine resident and 4-H member Amber Lee Olivier contacted Mayor Maefsky about her theatre company’s production of Beaivi and the reindeer. I had a follow up conversation with Amber. The show is about Beaivi, the goddess of the sun. Each Winter Solstice she is called upon to retrieve the sun from the underworld and restore light, sanity, and the promise of spring. Beaivi and the Reindeer is an Asylum original inspired by stories and music from the indigenous cultures of northern Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Russia. A performance of beautiful music, dance and large scale puppetry. The PRC will discuss whether to sponsor the show around the winter solstice, possibly contact the Gammelgarden for collaboration. Very little production needs are associated with the show; the community center can accommodate any needs for the show. Update from the Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails Karen Schik of the Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails informed Adam Hawkinson and me, via email on September 4, that they decided to continue to maintain the Lilleskogen butterfly garden, planning to install about 70 small plants. They will be digging deep holes and backfilling with good soil, with hopes of better success with this method and to mitigate the compacted soil conditions. They completed this work on Sunday September 22. Also, on October 6 the Friends plan to work at Wind in the Pines, cutting and treating buckthorn. 2019 TACO DAZE PICKLEBALL REVENUE AND EXPENSES Revenue: $440.00 11 teams with a $40 registration fee each $ 10.00 Donation / t-shirt sale $450.00 Total Expenses: $384.10 $291.60 t-shirts at a cost of $12.15 each for 24 t-shirts $ 50.50 6 winners’ medals $ 42.00 Pickleballs Net: $ 65.90
