7 b Beaivi and the ReindeerHi Terry,
Here is a brief about the show:
"poetry & story compiled/written by Amber Lee Olivier
choral arrangements by Steve Cox
Beaivi is the goddess of the sun and each Winter Solstice she is called upon to retrieve the
sun from the underworld and restore light, sanity, and the promise of spring.
Beaivi and the Reindeer is an Asylum original inspired by stories and music from the
indigenous cultures of northern Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Russia. A performance of
beautiful music, dance and large scale puppetry.
After the show you are invited to socialize with the Asylum artists and fellow audience
members. You will also have an opportunity to take pictures with Beaivi and the Reindeer."
The promotional graphic is attached, this is our main graphic for "Beaivi & the Reindeer."
I've also attached a couple versions of our theatre company's logo.
Of possible interest for your meeting: I grew up in Marine and was a 4 -H member with the
Mariners 4-H club from the age of 8 to 14/15. My father, Harlan Olson, used to write a
column for the Messenger called "A Place in the Country."
This show will be unique, what Northerners are known for in art. It seems to be a
Scandinavian trait to not tell the story but take the audience on the journey of the story. As
illustrated in some of the best art films created, "The Seventh Seal," "Persona," etc. There's
no "once upon a time" in the storytelling, there's the here and now. In world myth ology the
northern myths break from the similarities myths form the Ancient Chinese to the Greeks
share. They have an independence while still sharing the habit of creating myths but
allowing them to not be stuck in an ancient time.
Let me know if you need more/different information.
Thank you,
Amber Lee Olivier
