Members Present: Alex Bildeaux (Chair), Mike White, Matt Rasmussen, Greg Zauner, Dan
Lee, Tom Vogen.
Members Absent: Nancy Hall -Morris
Guests Present: Sally Swanson (City Council Rep), Lisa Schlingerman, Sonia Borg, Karen
Schik
Staff Present: Laurie Monson (Recreation Coordinator).
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 by Chair Bildeaux.
Approval of Agenda: The Agenda was approved with a motion by Lee, seconded by
White. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes: White moved to approve the minutes of the March 5, 2012
meeting as written; seconded by Rasmussen. Motion carried.
REPORTS
a) City Council Meeting: Sally brought the flags which will be used for the Community
Market.
b) Lilleskogen Park Subcommittee: John Olsen is committed to stump removal. Tom Helke
is committed to hauling out the stumps. Alex reported that all the trees marked for removal are
120 feet from the streetlight in the half circle around the center of the proposed parking lot.
Greg will replace Nancy on the Lilleskogen Park Subcommittee.
NEW BUSINESS
a) Signage at Log House Landing: Lisa Schlingerman proposed a sign with a photo of a
Federal Parks sample, showing the history of the site. She also expressed that there should be a
law enforcement presence. Tom was concerned about the sign placement, and this will be
further discussed at a future meeting. Funding for the sign will be provided by the National Park
Service. "Friends of Scandia Parks". Tom will act as committee liaison for this project.
Motion made by Mike White: To approve in principal the sign concept and to pursue more
detail as to placement and wordage. Seconded by Dan Lee. Motion approved.
b) Friends of Scandia Parks — School Forest Program, Scandia Elementary and
Lilleskogen: Sonja Borg proposed a designation of Lilleskogen Park as a "school forest
program" supported by the DNR. A meeting must be held with the school and coordinated with
plans. Updates will be coming.
c) Grills for Wayne Erickson Ballfield: The Committee approved the purchase of 3 grills at
$80 each which are on sale at Fleet Farm. Matt will purchase the grills with the money that was
budgeted last year. Sally Swanson reported that Jim Schneider will do brick work for sign and
possibly donate labor and materials.
OLD BUSINESS
a) Set Volunteer Work Dates: Motion made by Dan Lee: To postpone selection of work
dates until the next meeting. Seconded by Greg Zauner. Motion approved. Discussion with
Sonja Borg to coordinate work dates with Friends of Scandia Parks.
b) Scandia Community Market: The cost of the flags will be presented to the City Council.
There will be more signage to follow. Sally will follow up on this.
c) Warming House Repairs: Matt will continue to organize work, volunteers and donations.
d) Eagle Scout Projects: No report.
Laurie Monson provided an update on the Summer Recreation programs. Everything is in place
and running smoothly.
Adjournment: Motion by Dan Lee to adjourn; seconded by Mike White. Motion
approved.
