Members Present: Alex Bildeaux (Chair), Tom Vogen, Mike White, Matt Rasmussen, Greg
Zauner, Dan Lee (arrived 7:08), Nancy Hall -Morris (arrived 7:14.)
Members Absent: None
Guests: Sally Swanson (City Council Rep), Anne Hurlburt (City Administrator.)
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 by Chair Bildeaux.
Approval of Agenda: The Agenda was approved with one addition: a discussion of Taco
Daze was added.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the February 6, 2012 meeting were approved with one
change: they were corrected to show that Zauner did not vote for Bildeaux for Committee
Chair.
REPORTS
City Council Meeting: White reported that the Council approved the Committee
recommendation for Community Market vendor fees. The Council appointed Nancy Hall -Morris
to the Committee.
NEW BUSINESS
Appoint Recording Secretary: Lee moved, seconded by Zauner, to postpone appointment
of the Recording Secretary as Hall -Morris had not yet arrived at the meeting. The motion
passed, all in favor.
Review Lilleskogen Park Plans: information reviewed included the current CIP, the 2011
cost estimates and plan for the parking lot, and graphics from the original park plan. Bildeaux
plans to do the tree removal and grubbing during the first two weeks of April, with assistance
from Helke Tree Service. The need to solicit donations to complete the parking lot was
discussed. Lee suggested that a subcommittee could organize the efforts. Lee, Bildeaux and
Hall -Morris agreed to serve on the subcommittee.
Rasmussen, seconded by White, moved to appoint Nancy Hall -Morris as Recording Secretary.
The motion passed, all in favor.
Set Volunteer Work Dates: Volunteer projects and work dates were discussed. Some
possible projects include completing signs in Wind in the Pines Park, removing barbed wired,
general parks clean-up, and installation of grills at the Wayne Erickson Memorial Ball Park.
Lee, seconded by White, moved to postpone selection of work dates to the April 2 meeting.
Motion passed, all in favor.
OLD BUSINESS
Wayne Erickson Memorial Ball Park: Sign-- Swanson is getting estimates for materials
needed for the pillars for the sign, which will be brought to the March 20 City Council meeting.
Jim Schneider will build the pillars. Hurlburt reported that Maintenance staff will remove the
two evergreen trees in March. Swanson reported that Zach Boesel's Eagle Scout project will be
expanded to include landscaping around the new sign.
Grills --Swanson will purchase the grills before the next meeting, at which time a work day will
be scheduled for their installation. Hall -Morris will check with her contacts at Warner-Stellian to
see if they might be a source for the grills. Rasmussen volunteered to pick them up if
necessary.
Scandia Community Market: Swanson reported that the vendors will be holding a potluck
at GammelgArden on March 22.
Rink/ Warming House Repairs: Rasmussen reported that the Wojtowicz family will donate
$1,000 worth of materials for the stucco repairs. Rasmussen will organize this project when
weather permits.
Eagle Scout Projects: Swanson reported that there are other scouts that may soon approach
the city with new projects, possibly building benches. She will share a fact sheet from Chisago
City gives to scouts to help them gain approval of their projects.
ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA
Taco Daze: Bildeaux questioned the city's role in the annual celebration, and whether some
new activities such as a "greased pole climb" could be considered. It was suggested that new
ideas be submitted to the Lions' Taco Daze Committee.
Hurlburt distributed a draft of the summer recreation programs brochure. It will be mailed with
the newsletter in the last week of March.
Agenda items for next meeting: setting volunteer dates and projects and a report from the
Lilleskogen Park subcommittee.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 8:36 pm.
