Volunteers Needed To Serve on the Scandia Internet Action Committee
Are you frustrated by the reliability of the internet services at you home or business? Are you willing
to volunteer your time to help develop solutions to our community’s internet service challenges? If
so, the City of Scandia encourages you to consider serving on its Internet Action Committee.
The Internet Action Committee has several important goals:
1. To have every home and business in Scandia to be served with reliable broadband services
capable of achieving speeds of 100mbps down/20mbps up at a minimum.
2. To Minimize impacts on Scandia’s taxpayers as it relates to expanding services.
3. Complete an internet expansion action plan by June 2020.
4. To provide oversight of the expansion of broadband services until service goals are
achieved.
5. To facilitate the expansion of broadband to approximately 200 premises a year, completing
the expansion by 2024 (5 years).
Anyone with an interest for serving is encouraged to apply. However, candidates with the following
credentials are highly desirable for service on this committee:
1. Experienced, professional, senior communications engineer
2. Experienced, licensed contracts and business attorney
3. Experienced, software architect and technology educator
4. Small business owner without reliable, high-speed broadband service
5. Parent with school-age children without reliable, high-speed broadband service
