C. Douglas; Jhon Carney; and Bob Wilmers City Liasons in Attendance: Ken Cammilleri, City Administrator; Steve Kronmiller, City Council member; and Patti Ray, City Council member. Members Absent: Marschall Smith Other attendees: Jim Simpson Call to Order – The meeting was called to order by Cammilleri at 6:30pm. Introductions and selection of officers - Members and attendees exchanged introductions, and a motion by Carney, seconded by Mackiewicz, was made to appoint Wilmers committee chair. The motion carried. The committee decided by consensus to wait to appoint a vice chair until after the Council has finished making further appointments of new members. Scheduling of future meetings - Committee members agreed by consensus that regular meetings of the committee will be held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00pm. It was further noted that the Committee will likely schedule more frequent meeting times in order to attempt to complete its objective of completing an internet expansion plan by June 2020. The next meeting of the Committee is to be scheduled for January 9, 2020 at 6:00pm in the Board Room at City Hall. Discussion of Committee Charter – Members and attendees discussed the committee’s mission and tentative completion deadlines. No changes were offered or made. Keynote Presentation – Daniel Lightfoot, Intergovernmental Relations Specialist with the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) provided the committee with a presentation efforts made by other communities in Minnesota to address the expansion of high speed internet action. The members asked questions and discussed options. A notable question was raised pertained to potentially obtaining access to fiber optic lines and conduit owned by Frontier that were paid for with Federal grant dollars. Questions were also raised regarding making use of cellular and radio towers in the area. No action was taken. An update was given to committee members on the recent State of Minnesota grant that is seeking to add an addition 219 homes to high speed internet services.
