3. Patty Peterson_Meadowbrook letter January 31st, 2020 To: City of Scandia Council 14717 209th Street North Scandia, MN 55073 Dear City Council, My husband, Curt and I would like to explain a little history of our property at 21617 Meadowbrook Avenue. We bought the property in 2012 and moved onto it in 2013 after tearing down 4 buildings and erecting a modular home. Our property was severely run down and needed care with soil health, buried steel, debris, run down and rotting leaking roofs on buildings, and overgrowth of everything. The fence line around the pasture was unrepairable so Curt was mowing the 5 acre pasture to help with the tic population and to decrease the varmints for our chickens. In 2017, we had acquired some sheep to help but we needed a sturdy/reliable fence since the existing one was totally dilapidated. After tearing out the perimeter fencing we had a property survey in August of 2017. We contacted John Herman, primary partner, of the property to our north and we started meeting over coffee and homemade treats. The land survey had been rechecked by Mr. Herman and we discussed options such as selling the land, trading for land, or both. By the fall of 2018 we had not come to any conclusion. Our sheep herd was expanding and we wanted to get cows so we needed good fencing. In November of 2018 we hired Keith Peterson to install a pasture fence allowing the north driveway an additional 9 feet on the southerly side so that farm equipment could get navigate the narrow driveway. We have met with Mr. Herman and or his partner a number of times and walked our property. We have also allowed a company to come test the soil of the northwesterly area of our property. We have not come to an agreement but Curt and I have never opposed limited access to the driveway, as it exists, to access the property to our north. Thank you. Patty Peterson
