4. Public Comments 2_Big Marine Lake Store amended CUP applicationAmendment letter on April 6, 2020 1
RECEIVED
On April Yd, 2020 I received from Brenda Eklund the three attachments connected with [be Big Marine Lake
Store. We read the "Memorandum" and have questions, comments and requests as follow • CITY OF SCANDIA
On Pate 3, "Setbacks", second paragraph, states "The existing use was granted variances.....
side yard setback of 7.5 feet"
I understand that the setbacks of adjacent properties was 20 feet. What does and when did this
happen and does it apply for a residential property adjacent to a commercial property?
On Page 3, "Setbacks". last paragraph states, "Septic tanks must be 50 feet from adjacent property lines.
We are not sure where the additional septic tanks/system is going to be, but Mr. Reicherts has a
stake on the east side of his new garage and it is 10 feet from our property line. We would like to
know the purpose of this is stake. Is it in connection to the septic tanks?
On Pae 4 Parking and l,oadin , The 13 parking spaces on the Store's south property line and our north
Again I understood that the setback was 20 feet, it look like less than 10 feet.
On Page 6 Landsca in = and Screening
As we stated in our letter, and being residential property next to commercial, we feel the fence
should go down to the corner of our property and the new fence installed before the building
construction project starts.
On Page 8, Land Alterations, Grading, and Stormwater Management, second to last paragraph.
It states, " The applicant did agree to install a fence along the property line but has not yet done
so because an orange snow fence was put up on the same property line by the neighbor."
Yes, we did put up the orange snow fence, as we stated in the letter and why we did. As for that,
why is that stopping him from putting up a new solid white fence, can't the applicant put the new
fence next to the snow fence on his property and not on the property line? Then we all will know
it is on his property and not ours.
On Page 9. Evaluation of the CUP Criteria
On concerning the, " drainage of stormwater from the site to the adjacent property on the east,"—
We are concerned about this and there was mentioned a drainage easement on Page 8. We
would like to have someone explain to us what this would consist of. Can't the sides of the basis
be extended higher, etc. to resolve this issue. We would like to talk to someone about this, and
work something out.
Summary:
1. There must be some type of ruling on having a fence put up between a residential and commercial
properties. We would like the fence to be placed the full length of the store's south property line, to the
corner survey stake.
2. The setbacks should all be 20 feet from the property line, this includes, parking spaces, septic tanks, etc.
3. The reconstruction of the Store's stormwater runoff basin. We are not for a drainage pipe across our
property, we are willing to speak to the engineer to understand the construction and then willing to work
something out.
