5.d) Staff Report-Administrator resignation date amendmentJ SCANDIA Staff RepoVt Date of Meeting: August 18, 2015 To: City Council From: Kristina Handt, City Administrator Re: City Administrator Resignation Date Amended Background: On June 11th the City Council received my resignation with an effective date of November 6, 2015 with the option of extension on a part time basis if a replacement wasn't on board by then. At the July 28th Special Meeting, the Council reviewed the proposed timeline for having a new administrator on board. While the consultant will try and tighten up the timeline some, it is unlikely it can be shortened by a month or more. Issue: Should the Council agree to amend the Administrator's resignation date to December 4`h. Proposal Details: Given the potential gap in coverage and the need to have the public hearing on the budget before final adoption in December, as we discussed I would be willing to stay on part time through the first week in December (Dec 4th). We have typically held the public hearing on the budget during the December work session to negate the need for an additional meeting. That would be December 2nd this year. Part time would mean three days a week in the office and no night meetings other than Council work sessions, special meetings, or regular meetings. This arrangement has the potential to allow for a week or two of overlap with the new administrator assuming the timeline for recruitment is shortened. Fiscal Impact: I will continue to receive my regular amount of compensation. Options: 1) Approve amended resignation date of December 4th 2) Do not approve amendment to resignation date of Nov. 6th Recommendation: Option 1
