Re: Chiko's Authorization to Sell Beer at Ball Game, September 11, 2015
Background:
State statute allows the City Council to authorize holders of a retail on -sale liquor license to sell
alcohol at a community festival or at any convention, banquet, conference, meeting or social
affair conducted on the premises of a sports, convention, or cultural facility owned by the City.
Issue:
Should the City Council authorize Chiko's to sell beer at ball game at the Wayne Erickson
Ballfield on September 11, 2015?
Proposal Details:
Chiko's has applied for a temporary off -premises sales liquor license to sell beer at the Wayne
Erickson Ballfield on Friday, September 11, 2015. The event is co-sponsored with the
Washington County Historical Society and held on the premises of a City owned sports facility.
Time of the event including set up is and take down is 5pm-1 Ipm.
A drawing of the area has been requested multiple times from the applicants but not received by
the deadline for posting agenda materials. If not provided at the meeting, recommendation is to
deny for failure to submit required materials.
Fiscal Impact:
$25 application fee.
Options:
1) Authorize Chiko's to sell beer at Wayne Erickson Ballfield on September 11 as described
in the application received August 10, 2015 if drawing of area provided and fee paid.
2) Add other conditions to approval.
3) Do not authorize Chiko's to sell at the ball field September 11, 2015.
Recommendation:
Option 1.
