PW Staff report: August 2020 report 9-3-20

General:
The seasonal employee is done for this year. I have made the suggestion to have a second seasonal
included in the budget that would start in August each year. The grass growth is slowing some but the
moisture and temperatures are sustaining the growth rate. At the October meeting the PRC should
be thinking about the ice and the rink operations. Rink flooding and maintenance takes a lot of
resources annually. If the PRC and City are planning on having the rinks open, PW will need to
advertised in mid-October for a Zamboni operator.
Lilleskogen:
PW is busy coordinating the installation of culverts to move the east side pathway up to the high
ground and continuing the clearing for the path. There is an anticipated completion before 9 -16-20
Midco events.
Wayne Erickson Lighted Ballfield:
The 4H planting is done at the facility. It looks very nice. We thank Olivia and all the volunteers for
their time and effort to install the plantings. After the last event at the field PW will reduce the mowing
to once per week.
Warming House / Rinks:
Staff has submitted a proposed Ad form to use for advertising for both Wayne Erickson Memorial
Ballfield and the ice rink to the administration for review.
Hay Lake & Monument:
Area approved at Hay Lake for the 4H project has been installed. We, again, thank Olivia and her
volunteers for the efforts to establish landscapes to improve the community. The sidewalk
construction for the Lions donation will begin after 9-16-20 Midco event. The volunteer for the area
has done a very nice job of mulching and weeding. We thank her for her services.
WIP
Our volunteer for WIP has steps installed and PW will continue to work with him to provide resources
as needed to continue volunteer efforts.
