5.b PW Staff Report
PW Staff report: August - September 2020 report 10-5-20
To: PRC
From: Director of Public Works – Adam Hawkinson
General:
The PW department trailer purchase has worked out well. The 4-H plantings have been doing well at
both Wayne Erickson and Hay Lake.
Lilleskogen:
Trail construction to move the pathway to the east is complete. The woodchip top dressing will occur
as soon as weather is accommodating. The path will conform to ADA if in the future the path is paved
or has compacted Class V improvements. Peterson Exc. Will return to add the rock at the ends of the
culverts per watershed request when weather permits.
Wayne Erickson Lighted Ballfield:
The last games and events have occurred in September so the field is ready to be prepared for
winter. The aeration is complete and the last mowing will occur after the first hard frost. There were
minor repairs to the door on the concession stand and the scoreboard electronic controller was
removed and stored at the PW shop for the winter. The first level to the two-tier bleaches set is
assembled and assembly of the second set is underway.
Warming House / Rinks:
Staff will seek direction as the skating season gets closer. Covid19 is going to have an impact on the
beginning of the season for sure. There are some repairs the need to be done on the boards. PW will
address those needs very shortly.
Hay Lake & Monument:
The 4H project looks very good. Next on the agenda is to install a new culvert and the sidewalk at
Hay Lake the pavilion. The contractor is set up for the week of October 5th.
WIP:
Our volunteer for WIP has finished the step project for this year and is continuing to brush the trails
back as needed.
Goose Lake:
The dock ramp has been repaired. The dock will be removed late October. The dock replacement
should go on the CIP. An aluminum framed dock should replace the steel one currently on site.
