10.d September 2020 - Public Works Staff report - October 20th - 2020October 20th, 2020 Public Works Staff Report – September 2020 Roads and Right – of – way Roads: A smear patch was applied to 232nd to temporarily remediate the road issue with the undermining of muskrats. Contactors were too busy to address the issue this year. The City Hall parking lot was restriped this year. The handicap parking symbols will be stenciled in next year. Micro surface on 202nd and 185th turned out nice and there were no complaints from residents on either micro-surfacing project. One resident requested 191st be done with micro-surfacing. PW has contacted the contractor and asked for them to come and give a quote next spring. A hazard tree was identified on Quint Ave. by LHL. We have three bids and will go with the lowest bid. There were 5 more trees that had fallen on the roads and needed removal. Two of which were after hours. 197th – Dinosaur Hill was graded again due to wash boarding. It may need one more grading yet this fall. ROW mowing is 2/3rds complete. The mower has needed several repairs through the last three weeks of mowing. The flail mower shaft that holds the knives is warn out and the knives break off. The sign replacement for 2020 is almost complete. We are waiting on the signs to arrive. Sewer – Water: Bliss /AE 201 system: Funds from FEMA have arrived for the repairs to the 201 system in the Bliss. Lift station #2 motor needs to be replaced and the ball valve and three electric butterfly valves in Lift Station #3 need to be repaired. A staff report has been prepared. The notice letter for raising pump tank covers and tank covers is being mailed out the residents this week. Additional notice will be given several days prior to the start of the project. Sludge Judges were completed on all tanks not pumped this spring. There are 26 tanks that will need pumping this fall. Uptown sewer: The timers have been re-set to match the current use. The tank is fluctuating only two inches up and down each week and is stable. Average flow was about 2200 GPD in September. Parks: Lilleskogen: Trail construction to move the east pathway furter to the east is complete. The woodchip top dressing is almost complete. The path conforms to ADA if in the future the path is paved or has compacted Class V improvements. Peterson Exc. did returned to add rock at the ends of the culverts per watershed request. Wayne Erickson Lighted Ballfield: The last games and events have occurred in September so the field is ready to be prepared for winter. The aeration is complete and the last mowing will occur after the first hard frost. There were minor repairs to the door on the concession stand and the scoreboard electronic controller was removed and stored at the PW shop for the winter. The first level to the two-tier bleaches set is assembled and assembly of the second set is underway. Warming House / Rinks: Staff will seek direction as the skating season gets closer. Covid19 is going to have an impact on the beginning of the season for sure. There are some repairs the need to be done on the boards. PW will address those needs very shortly. Hay Lake & Monument: The 4H project looks very good at Hay Lake. The new sidewalk for the Hay Lake Pavilion has been installed. Restoration will occur along the walk yet this fall. A volunteer added plants to the monument area to fill open areas and reduce the weeds. WIP: Our volunteer for WIP has finished the step project for this year and is continuing to brush the trails back as needed. Goose Lake: The dock ramp has been repaired. The dock will be removed late October. The dock replacement should go on the CIP. An aluminum framed dock should replace the steel one currently on site.
