9.d Public Works Staff report November 17 2020November 17th, 2020 Public Works Staff Report – October 2020 Roads and Right – of – way Roads: Last of the season patching has been completed. The department will now switch over to cold mix for patching. The last gravel road blading was completed. Dinosaur Hill (197th) was graded twice. The catch basin on Oxboro court the was broken has been replaced. If the weather cooperates, the intention is to finish the roadside mowing for animal crossing visibility and to keep the volunteer trees and shrubs from encroaching in on the roadways. Two trees had come down across the road during off hours and were pushed off to the side. Plow trucks have all the plows and sanders hung back on them again. The first plowing we had the front plows and sanders and the second plow on 11-11-20 we had all accessories attached and operational. The second plowing also had the seasonal cul -de-sac drivers join the effort. Gravel roads were too soft to plow and will have to wait until they freeze. The tandem dump truck went in for more antifreeze leak repairs. It is back and ready for service. Sewer – Water: Water: All three Public Works staff have a class E water operator certification for the water system the city has to serve City Hall, the Church, and Gammelgarden. The Director received his certification in May of this year. Due to Covid the classes for recertification were cancelled. Now they are doing on-line training. Myself, Jeff and Mike are participating to maintain our certifications. Rick will be due for re-certification next year. Bliss /AE 201 system: New covers have been installed to replace the old residential pump pit covers that were low. There is one more station in the Bliss that will need to be completed in the spring. The cover was hidden under plywood and gravel in the driveway. Uptown sewer: Running smooth. Parks: Lilleskogen: A thin woodchip top dressing has been added to the new section of pathway. Peterson Exc. returned to add the rock at the ends of the culverts. We will add more chips to the pathway once the ground freezes. Posts and rails have been purchased for the split rail fence project. That installation should occur shortly with the warmer weather approaching. Wayne Erickson Lighted Ballfield: Bleachers are almost complete. The upper section and lower section need to be attached on site as well as the safety fencing and the rails. It is going to look great when on site. Trash services for the park have ended. Warming House / Rinks: The doors on the rink that lead to the open rink have been removed due to the hinges not operating correctly. They will be repaired and ready if there is a hockey tournament. Staff is looking at options to the swinging doors. Boards that can be self-installed may be more appropriate for out uses. Other repairs to the rink boards have been made by staff. Hay Lake & Monument: Side walk has been installed. Back fill that was onsite has been spread. In the spring PW will need to perform a final grade, seed, and seed blanket finish. A class V pad will also be created off to the south of the walkway near the entrance off the parking lot to accommodate a port -a- potty. Goose Lake: The dock and ramp have been removed for this year. Trash services for the year have ended.
