Scandia Tourism Committee Signage Recommendations – October 2020
Primary Signs
1. All Primary signs owned and managed by the City of Scandia will be of the same shape,
include the Dala Horse in relief on top, saddled by Kurbits.
2. The background color shall be Scandinavian Blue (Cloudburst, Sherman Williams #6487
or possibly Grand Canal Sherman Williams #6488); the font used should be Garamond,
with “City of Scandia” on top in white lettering, facility address on bottom in white
lettering, and name and type of facility (e.g. Lilleskogen Park) in the center in black
lettering.
3. Signs should be constructed with two brick supports or composite supports made to
look like wood, whichever is most appropriate to the setting, designed to last 15 years
or more. Any sign supports at or below grade shall be treated to refusal material.
4. Signs shall be consistent with the United States Sign Council’s Sign Legibility Rules of

Secondary Signs
1. Park system signage may include an orientation map.
2. If appropriate, signs may include additional City rules such as hours of operation or
prohibition of alcohol.
3. Multiple types of signs (entrance marker, interpretive sign, directional/informational
signs) may be allowed at each location as appropriate.
4. The use of native vegetation compatible to the area is strongly encouraged in the
landscaping plan.
