9.b December Fire Chief ReportFire Chief Report 12/15/2020 COVID -Calls for assistant have gone back to near normal levels. -Supplies are adequate at this time, we are keeping a close eye on them. -There is talk of the vaccine starting soon, there is no information on when and who will get the first doses at this time. We are working with the State and County department of health preparing for distribution. Reminder to keep wearing your masks when near others. Mask wearing has proven to be effective for our fire department. Project update CARES Fund -The door access and camera system - Both systems are now installed. We have had basic training and will be scheduling in-depth training in the next couple of weeks. The new systems are working as planned. We now have better control of access to city buildings. The door system has proven to be very easy to use and will keep us from needing to pay a lock smith every couple of years to change keys, do to changing personnel or lost keys. CARES Fund – The new washer has been installed and is in service. CARES Fund – The new RamAir Dryer is installed and in use. This item has reduced the time to dry gear from 24 hr.’s down to 4 hours. CARES Fund – Jumpsuits are in service; I want to note that the members are very happy with this purchase. -We have been working with Bee to make improvements to the new city web site. I would like to say that Bee has been putting some very good thoughts into the new web site to make it more useful to our residents. Personnel -Ben Horner has officially started as of 12/01/2020 -We currently have no positive COVID cases on the department. We have only had 1 positive case since the onset of the pandemic. -We will be starting our hiring push in January. I will have a formal staff report for January. The current roster we feel is short by 8 members. If you know anyone that may be interested please have them fill out an application on the city web site
