9.b December Fire Chief ReportFire Chief Report 12/15/2020
COVID
-Calls for assistant have gone back to near normal levels.
-Supplies are adequate at this time, we are keeping a close eye on them.
-There is talk of the vaccine starting soon, there is no information on when and who will get the first
doses at this time. We are working with the State and County department of health preparing for
distribution.
Reminder to keep wearing your masks when near others. Mask wearing has proven to be effective for
our fire department.
Project update
CARES Fund -The door access and camera system - Both systems are now installed. We have had basic
training and will be scheduling in-depth training in the next couple of weeks. The new systems are
working as planned. We now have better control of access to city buildings. The door system has proven
to be very easy to use and will keep us from needing to pay a lock smith every couple of years to change
keys, do to changing personnel or lost keys.
CARES Fund – The new washer has been installed and is in service.
CARES Fund – The new RamAir Dryer is installed and in use. This item has reduced the time to dry gear
from 24 hr.’s down to 4 hours.
CARES Fund – Jumpsuits are in service; I want to note that the members are very happy with this
purchase.
-We have been working with Bee to make improvements to the new city web site. I would like to say
that Bee has been putting some very good thoughts into the new web site to make it more useful to our
residents.
Personnel
-Ben Horner has officially started as of 12/01/2020
-We currently have no positive COVID cases on the department. We have only had 1 positive case since
the onset of the pandemic.
-We will be starting our hiring push in January. I will have a formal staff report for January. The current
roster we feel is short by 8 members. If you know anyone that may be interested please have them fill
out an application on the city web site
