Ken,
Yes, that's a good idea to do it after the holidays. Thanks for bringing it up to the EDA and tourism committee.

Ann,
Its an interesting idea. We can run the idea by the EDA and the tourism committee. Perhaps, its something we could do
outside the holidays to keep interest in being active (and shopping) local.
Best,
Ken

Yes, I've seen the card that has come out in The Country Messenger. As I recall, it is focused on spending a
certain dollar amount and then the squares are marked off. If you get all of them marked off (I think it's about
$500), then you get entered to win a prize.
The Harmony BINGO card has a variety of spots that focus not just on spending and supporting local
businesses, but exploring and promoting the city. What's nice about the Harmony BINGO card is that people
can do things on it that don't cost money - so it makes it a much more equitable contest and something fun to
do. It encourages them to get out and about, explore the city, and share what they see and do on social
media.
So, adapting the Harmony idea to Scandia, it could look something like this:
B

Our area and local businesses, including Osceola, have been doing something similar for the past few years. I don’t
recall seeing the card this year; might check with Crabtrees.

Hi,
The City of Harmony (MN) is doing a fun idea to support local businesses and organizations,
practicing safe distancing while out and about, and exploring the town.
The description is: "Who is ready to play some BINGO in Harmony? Pick up a Bingo card at a
local retail shop (or download from here), complete tasks to create a horizontal, vertical or
diagonal bingo while supporting small, local businesses. Once completed, turn in the card to
be entered into a drawing for four $50 prizes in Harmony Dollars. Drawing will be Dec. 5.
See BINGO card for more information."
Here's the link to their Facebook page: Harmony Area Chamber of Commerce | Facebook so you
can see the BINGO card.

This could be something that could easily be adapted to the City of Scandia - perhaps in January when income for businesses
can slump a bit after the holidays (and, thus, could use a boost), people are setting new goals for themselves, and people will be
eager to put 2020 behind them and do things that are new and different in 2021.
