Learn to Skate Program: Beginner and
Advanced
The six -week Learn to Skate program will be
taught by a trained coach and director of the
Cutting Edge Skating Association. The Learn to
Skate program is structured to teach recreational
skating to children of different abilities. The
Learn to Skate program for beginners is directed
at children who have little or infrequent skating
experience, but can stand on their own. The beginner skaters will learn techniques for falling
safely, forward march and forward skate, 2 foot and 1 foot glides, forward swizzles, backward
wiggle, backward swizzles and 2 foot snowplow stop. The Learn to Skate program for the more
advanced skaters would work on backward stroking, back crossovers, t-stops and/or hockey
stops, and mohawks. There will be a bus available for kids to take from Scandia Elementary to
the Community Center. Helmets are recommended. Register by December 23. Be sure to
indicate whether you are registering for the beginner or the advanced program.
Min/Max Enrollment 5/15 for each class
Location: Wojtowicz Skating Rink at Scandia Community Center
Time: 3:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Students must be picked up no
penalty fee of $10 every half hour beyond 5:15 p.m.
Day: Tuesdays from January 5 - February 9
Cost: $59 ($65 after December 23)

supervision and guidance. There will be a bus available for kids to
take from Scandia Elementary to the Community Center. Helmets

SCANDIA City of Scandia Recreation Programs
General Instructions: Complete this registration form and return with payment (cash or check) by the registration
deadline to the City of Scandia, 14727 209th Street North, Scandia, MN 55073. Enrollment is limited and pre-
registration for all activities is required. If a program fills, a limited wait -list may be available. Refunds will be issued if
the program is cancelled; you will be notified at least 3 business days prior to the class if there is a cancellation. Refunds
will not be issued for non-attendance unless your cancellation is received at least one week prior to the start of the
class. Assume all classes will run as scheduled. If school is closed or let out early due to weather, classes will be
cancelled as well. Additional registration forms are available at the City office or on our website: www.ci.scandia.mn.us.

these activities for promotional purposes.
Release: I recognize there is a significant element of risk in any sports and/or activity. Knowing the inherent risks, dangers and rigors involved, I
certify that I and/or my family (including any minor children) are fully capable of participating in the activities, and wish to do so as voluntary
participants, and with such knowledge assume any and all risks while participating in the activities. In consideration of the City of Scandia and its
partners, (collectively referred to herein as "the City of Scandia"), providing this program to me and/or my family and/or legal wards, I hereby
waive and release the City of Scandia, and its employees, agents and volunteers, from all actions, claims and demands for personal injury, including
death, arising out of the conduct of the activities. I further agree that I shall not bring any claims, demands, legal actions and causes of action against
the City of Scandia, its employees or agents. This waiver of liability does not waive liability for any injuries that I obtain as the result of willful,
wanton or intentional misconduct by the City or any person acting on behalf of the City. This agreement shall be governed by and construed in
accordance with the laws of the State of Minnesota. I have read, understand, and accept the terms and conditions stated herein and acknowledge
that this agreement shall be effective and binding upon me and/or my family and/or legal wards during the entire period of participation in Scandia
Park and Recreation activities.

BUS TRANSPORTATION TO THE RINK
Bus service to the rink is available for all students. If you wish to utilize this service you will need to have a signed bus change
form to ride bus #68 on file in the Scandia Elementary office. Please request one from the office by calling 651-982-3300.
Only students with a signed form on file will be transported on a Forest Lake School Bus to the rink. Students will need their own
transportation after the program.
