• 2016 Street Improvements (236t" Street N, Novak Ave N, 237t" Street N) — Construction
Plans are approximately 80% completed. Soil borings have been taken on Oldfield Ave
N and results are currently being reviewed to determine the necessary scope and
estimated costs to determine how far south the project limits can be extended.
• Watershed District Projects:
1. 197t" Street Ravine Stabilization Project — This project is nearly completed other
than the remaining work that will be completed in the spring that includes
sediment removal and restoration of the lower wetland.
2. Sand Lake Iron Enhanced Sand Filter Project — Contractor waiting for frost to set
up on the site before starting any work. Review of weather might potentially
allow Contractor to start the week of December 21St
• North & East Metro Ground Water Management Plan (GWMA) — Washington, Ramsey,
along with portions of Anoka and Hennepin counties have been designated as the North
and East Metro GWMA. The designation in November 2015 allows a more
comprehensive and focused approach to ensuring that groundwater supplies remain
adequate to meet human needs, while protecting lakes, streams and wetlands. This
Plan will guide the DNR's efforts to manage groundwater appropriations sustainably in
this area over the next five years. The Plan established sustainability goals to help
appropriation permit holders plan for their future water use. This Plan does not get into
details of water management for any individual business or community. It proposes no
immediate changes to particular permits, but it sets the stage for managing
appropriations more carefully and comprehensively in the years ahead.
The Plan lays out five broad objectives that include:
1. Identify and embrace water conservation best practices
2. Protect surface waters
3. Preserve water quality
4. Improve appropriations permitting
5. Protect water availability
The specific actions the DNR will take to meet these objectives and thereby achieve
the overall goal of sustainable groundwater use include:
1. Increase monitoring and evaluation of groundwater and groundwater -
dependent natural resources.
Improve communications relative to established sustainability thresholds.
3. Develop sustainability thresholds where they do not exist.
4. Improve the appropriations permitting process.
