Most were just bad connections from weathering. Completed what we could on the hockey rink. With the cold weather approaching, we were running out of time. I always had at least 2 men working at the rink for just over a week. Due to the holiday season, we recorded 16 days of pump run times for the month of December. Approximately 25 hours is spent for 1 employee to accomplish this particular task. On December 18, 2015, 2 members of the crew began to flood water onto the ice rink and pleasure rink area. They spent about 8 man hours at this job. Plus, our PT rink attendant spent another 6 to 8 hours on flooding over the weekend of the 19th and 20th DMR sampling was due this month. Samples were taken and delivered to Pace Analytical. This requires 1 person all day to do this. Recording samples from the previous month when the results return to us take another full day. One of the crew rebuilt a new man -hole cover for a catch -basin down in the bliss. A new cover was put in place for safety reasons. This took 2 days to rebuild the cover. Various in -shop duties are performed either once a month or once a week to prevent safety hazards. Some of the jobs performed are cranes, straps, and ladder inspection. There is more to it. We have a whole list that requires inspecting also. General clean-up of the floor and cleaning of vehicles is also performed. This month, one the Public Works crew was able to sweep the floor and pick-up the shop some. This only takes a few hours. One of the vehicles needed be serviced. This means it needed to have its fluids checked and changed if needed. 1 of the crew spent a day cleaning and painting the frame of the hockey nets red to bring back a little color in them. On December 23rd, the Public Works crew came in during the evening to plow and salt. There was a mix of rain and snow. Bad conditions, approximately 2 to 3 inches of accumulation. Mike Hienz (Fire Chief) called me to inform me that conditions were hazardous, an especially in the area of Pilar Ave. December 26th, another 4 inches of accumulation had the Public Works crew and the PT employees out plowing, salting and sanding. The following Monday the 28th, took care of sidewalks clearing them off and used the blower on the rink. The Zamboni could not handle the amount of snow that was on the ice. Rink Attendant, Ben Johnson came in twice a day except for Christmas to flood the rinks. He also flooded through the rest of the week to open the rink up by New Year's Holiday. Williams took 3 calls of concern Of road conditions. These issues were taken care of. Once again, the crew finished the day getting the trucks ready for more snow that was expected for December 29. December 29, more plowing was done with full-time crew and PT employees. Once completed, the full time crew began to clean the trucks of dirt and salt. On December 30, repaired a mailbox, salted a few roads on request and looked into areas of interest for plowing in the future.
