• 2016 Street Improvements (236t" Street N, Novak Ave N, 237t" Street N, Oldfield Ave N)
1. Bid Opening is scheduled for February 24, 2016, at 10:00am, City Hall
2. Potential Bid Award, March 15, 2016 City Council Meeting
Watershed District Projects:
1. 197t" Street Ravine Stabilization Project — Remaining work will be completed in
the spring/summer.
2. Sand Lake Iron Enhanced Sand Filter Project —All work that can be completed at
this time has been completed. Remaining work will resume in the spring and
anticipated to be completed by June. The Watershed representatives have
engaged in close coordination with property owners and they have received
positive feedback and support of the improvement.
January 20t" I attended a mid -project update from the USGS Research. The first
statement from most of the speakers was, "no results are being discussed today
because the work is still ongoing. Below are the highlights of the presentation;
1. In 2016, projects either are underway or have initiatives:
1. USGS research on groundwater/surface water
2. White Bear Lake Augmentation Concept Cost Report (DNR)
3. Washington County Municipal Water Coalition Report
4. White Bear Lake settlement milestones (DNR, Cities)
5. NE Metro Groundwater Management Area Plan Implementation (DNR)
6. Local Water Supply Plans due for NE communities (DNR, Met Council)
USGS hoping to obtain a better understanding on the following
1. Why do Lake levels fluctuation between lakes
2. Better understanding of groundwater/surface water interaction in deeper parts
of lakes
USGS Provided Overview of Work Being Completed on White Bear Lake and area
Lakes. Closest lake to City was Big Marine.
1. Water borne geophysics (determines sediments on bottom of lakes)
2. Lake - sediment coring (determine thickness and permeability of organic lake
sediments)
3. Piezometer (gives lake elevations overtime)
4. Seepage Meters (obtains flow readings)
5. Still developing and calibrating the Groundwater -Flow Model

• Washington County has notified the City they will be doing a Pavement Preservation Project on
County Road 52 between Hwy 97 and Hwy 95 in 2017. This project is intended to extend the life
of existing pavement.
