Children’s Story Contest
On April 17, Greg Zauner and I attended the Award ceremony for the Children’s Story Contest. Mayor
Maefsky presided with council member Ray. Greg was the official photographer.
The event was attended by the winners of the contest and parents. Feedback from attendees about the
event was positive. The kids had fun talking with the Mayor and running the trails at the park
CLFLWSD Update
I updated our compilation of ideas for the Bone Lake park collaboration with the watershed district and
forwarded to administrator Mike Kinney. He stated that there is a new coordinator joining the staff in
May. One of the new coordinator’s tasks will be to work with the various constituents on projects like
the Bone Lake park.
In the meantime, the district has reached out to Patti Ray and me and has proposed a check-in meeting
for some time in May. That meeting has not yet been scheduled.
Lions Club Presentation
The Scandia Marine Lions Club invited me to their in-person meeting on April 22 at the community
center. I gave a short update on our projects and plans. They have been a good partner of the PRC in
the past and were interested in ways that they can continue to support. I mentioned there will be
volunteer opportunities as well as upcoming grant requests, such a shelter at Lilleskogen. I thanked
them for past contributions, for example the park benches and support for the pickleball Taco Daze
tourney.
We received one suggestion for the new park property. It is “George on Orwell.” I suggested they watch
for the formal contest coming up soon.
Future PRC discussion items
