Dear Scandia City Council, Planning Commission and Staff,
In consideration of the feedback received from the review of our variance request at the
May 4th Planning Commission mtg., we wish to exclude the proposed garage and
associated garage driveway portions of our Variance application at this time.
This will leave only the emergency egress staircase w/ associated deck addition for
review at the next Planning Commission/ City Council meetings.
Summary of request from application letter:
“we wish to add a staircase with a small addition to an existing deck at the rear of the
house to provide for an emergency egress/exit and area for a grill/table off the kitchen of
the house. Currently the only entrance/exit on the main floor of the house is the front
entrance on the south side at grade level. This exit is also near the inside staircase to
the lower level of the house. Due to the steep slope of the property a staircase would be
required off of the main floor on the north side of the house to get to grade level. There
is a currently an exterior door and small deck at the NE corner of the house that would
be utilized to provide a second exit from the upper level in case of an emergency.”
