06.g Staff Report Tim O'Neill Nick Bancks Pay Increase Staff Report Date of Meeting: June 15, 2021 To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members From: Mike Hinz, Fire Chief Re: Pay Increase & Stipend for Tim O’Neill & Nick Bancks Background: Both Tim & Nick were hired June 1st of 2020 as probationary firefighters. They have both successfully competed there 1 year probation period. Employee policy sates that they will receive a $1.00 increase for completing Probation. They both also completed their Firefighter 2 certification and the policy states they receive a $1.00/hr pay increase and a $100.00 stipend for successful completion of firefighter 2. Issue: Should the city approve a pay increase and stipend for Tim O’Neill & Nick Bancks? Proposal Details: Increase the hourly pay for Tim O’Neill & Nick Banks from $10.33 to $12.33. $1.00 or completing Probation $1.00 for certification as firefighter 2 Fiscal Impact: The fiscal impact would be estimated at $300.00 per year per employee. This amount was included in the fire department operating budget. Options: (1) Approve pay increase for Nick Bancks & Tim O’Neill effective June 1, 2021. (2) Deny part or all of the pay increase (3) Do nothing Recommendation: Option (1).
