• Benches and picnic tables nearby are nice
• No
• We tend not to visit the community center playground because it is too small/young for my now-preteens,
although it is the closest to us and we really would use it a lot more (more than once a week) if it had different
stuff. – We prefer wood chip mulch because it decomposes when it goes out of the designated area – less build
up than sand or gravel. Solid bonded rubber is fine, but often more expensive and harder to replace so if there’s
a good/cheap supply of wood chips available the regular maintenance needed can be simpler. Pea gravel is
second choice as it doesn’t stick to skin or in clothes like sand. Absolutely NO to the long-term headache that is
shredded tire – questionable safety, tracks everywhere and becomes litter, makes skin and clothes dirty in a way
that’s difficult to wash, inhaling the dust aggravates airways. – Thank you for the opportunity to comment. I
read about the survey in the city newsletter, but also consider posting a notice about it on NextDoor if you
haven’t already to reach families in a different way.
• You need a standardized sign for the locations where the city parks are. Some of the neighbors pretty much
have taken over spot that were not well marked/publicized. Should be in the newsletter you send out – maybe
in the messenger

Big Marine
• I just want to say THANK YOU for tackling this project!!!! We have lots of small kids and live close to the
playground, so I am thrilled to read this.

• Short term improvements advance so we have something
• I have very young kids right now – would be nice to see smaller playground sets for younger kids in addition to
standard size for older kids
• Make bigger
• Spider web
• I would enjoy being part of the group that looks at creating a playground. Please contact me – Ann Rinkenberger
• Have funds set aside for repairs. We like the playground by Gammelgarden however it’s been falling apart for
years.
• Make sure there is some thing for kids of all ages – not just big kids or little kids!
• Make it fun and interactive. Don’t go cheap. Making investments so it lasts the test of time and safe!
