Re: Vinterfest 2016 Final Event Submissions
Background:
The Parks and Recreation Committee began planning for Vinterfest 2016 at its September 14,
2015 meeting. Specifically, the following organizers shared their preliminary event proposals:
Corey Roberts - Scanley Cup
Pamela Arnold - Lilletour and Quizpromenade and other Events
Roxanne Rydeen and Lisa Pothen - Vinterfishing
Linda Marotzke - Vintage Snowmobile Show
The event organizers were asked to provide their finalized event submissions by October 23,
2015 to be presented to the Parks and Recreation Committee for approval at its November 2,
2015 meeting.
Issue:
What community organized Vinterfest 2016 events should be recommended for City Council
approval at its November 17, 2015 meeting?
Proposal Details:
To date, three Special Event Permit Applications have been submitted to Staff. Included in the
meeting materials you will find applications for the Scanley Cup adult hockey tournament
submitted by Corey Roberts, Vinterfest Vintage Snowmobile event submitted by Linda
Marotzke, and the Lilletour, Quiz Promenade (and additional events) submitted by Pamela
Arnold.
Although Roxanne Rydeen and Lisa Pothen have not yet submitted a Special Event Permit
Application for the Vinterfishing event, neither have contacted Staff to withdraw their
preliminary proposal as presented at the September 14, 2015 Parks and Recreation Committee
meeting.
Fiscal Impact:
The Committee recommended the City Council approve an “E vents” budget of $1,000 for 2016.
Options:
1. Approve all of the Special Event Permit Applications for Vinterfest 2016 events and the
Vinterfishing event as was previously proposed with the condition a Special Event
Permit Application is submitted.
2. Amend and then approve the Special Event Permit Applications and Vinterfishing
proposal for Vinterfest 2016 events.
3. Do not approve some of the proposed Vinterfest 2016 events.
Recommendation:
Option 1, with the condition Staff receive any additional documentation to meet all
requirements of the Special Event Permit Applications.
