5.a McGinley holding tank planZIERKE SOIL TESTING Mark McGinley 21529 St Croix Trl N Scandia, MN 55073 5/16/2021 Dear Mark McGinley, At your request, I have prepared a holding tank plan for your cabin on the St Croix River. I have designed a holding tank system consisting of two 1500 -gallon septic tanks which far exceeds the minimum required tank size for your cabin. An audible high-level alarm will need to be set to trigger when the tanks reach 75% capacity. Given the variable nature of the soils along the river, your installer may need to install the tanks with less than two feet of soil cover. If this is the case, extra insulation will need to be added to ensure the tanks have proper insulation. Based on the survey sketch provided, the distance from the tanks to the OHWL of the St Croix river will be 103' which is short of the required set back distance. A variance will need to be granted to allow the tanks to be installed this close to the river.
