Re: Selection of Chair and Vice Chair for 2015
Background:
Ordinance 91 provides that the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Parks and Recreation
Committee are appointed by the Commission from among the members of the Commission, subject
to approval by the Council, for a term of one year. Furthermore, the bylaws of the Parks and
Recreation Committee provide that election of officers will be held at the first meeting of February
of each year.
The Chairperson in 2014 was Greg Zauner and the Vice Chairperson was Alex Bildeaux.
Issue:
Who should be the Chair and Vice Chairperson in 2015?
Should the Committee's bylaws be revised to reflect a change in election dates for Chair and Vice
Chairperson and the term expiration dates?
Proposal Details:
Chair Zauner is proposing the election of Chair and Vice Chairperson be postponed until the first
meeting in March of each year. As well, Zauner is proposing the Committee member appointments
term expiration date be changed to the last day of February. Zauner shared the proposed date
changes would eliminate potential conflict with Vinterfest obligations.
The Committee can select from the following for Chair or Vice Chair for 2015: Alex Bildeaux, Matt
Rasmussen, Greg Zauner, Brad Borg, or Ryan Jinks.
Fiscal Impact:
None.
Recommendation:
Motion should be made to make a recommendation on Chair and Vice Chairperson of the Parks and
Recreation Committee for 2015. A motion to amend the Parks and Recreation Committee Bylaws
would need to be approved by the City Council.
