DRAFT Minutes
Monday, August 9, 2021
6:30 P.M.
Location: the Scandia Community Center, 14727 209th Street N, Scandia, Minnesota
And Via Zoom and Boxcast Stream
Commissioners in Attendance: Greg Amundson; President Heather Benson; Brad Borg; Sue
Dickens; and Vice President Mark Porubcansky.
Others in attendance: Executive Director Ken Cammilleri
Absent: None.
Call to Order: Called to order at 6:40pm due to technical difficulties.
Approval of Agenda – Motion by Amundson, seconded by Dickens, to approve the agenda with
the addition of a discussion on the September in-person Business Breakfast and the removal of
the presentation on the Main Street Revitalization Program due to Susan Rodsjo was not
available to make a presentation at tonight’s meeting. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes from the Board’s July 12, 2021 Meeting – Motion by Dickens, seconded by
Amundson, to approve the July 12th minutes with a correction to the spelling of Porubcansky’s
name. Motion carried.
Director’s updates/financial report. Cammilleri presented the July EDA financial report.
Business Visit Reports Center – Amundson reported on the statuses of several businesses he has
followed up on behalf of the EDA. Amundson had met with the Thirsty Buffalo, the Scandia
Medical Center, Scandia Auto, Your Home Café (formerly Scandia Café), and PN Products. He
also provided update on his company, InstaTrim Products.
Review of the 2022 EDA budget – Cammilleri presented the draft budget to the Commission.
The Commission decided by consent to seek an $8,000 levy. They also included $2,000 in finds
to support the activities of the Tourism Committee, $1,000 towards the cost of next winter’s ice
sculpture. The Commission will consider approval the preliminary budget and levy at their
meeting on September 13th.
September in-person Business Breakfast – The Commission discussed the breakfast’s agenda.
The tentative plan is to invite John Engstrom of Willow Tree Farm and the manager of the
Thirsty Buffalo to share information on their businesses and to request a presentation from one
of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s coordinators to
present on programs that may be of interest to the Scandia business community. The event is
scheduled for Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 8:00AM

Review of EDA Work Plan – The Commission briefly discussed recent draft amendments and
decided to continue their discussion at the next meeting.
Next Board Meeting Date – Benson reminded the Commission that the next board meeting will
be held Monday, September 13th at 6:30pm.
