Scandia Park Playground Equipment Replacement Subcommittee (SPPERS) Meeting
Monday, August 23, 2021
Overview:
A meeting of the Scandia Park and Playground Equipment Replacement Subcommittee was held on the above
date on the site of the Scandia Community Center.
The following were participants to the meeting: Committee members Cami Van Able, Christine Johnson, and
Sean Bibus. Absent: Emmy Lundeen. Director of Public Works, Charles Fischer was also present. A quorum
was present and Van Able called the meeting to order at 6:40pm.
Approval of the Agenda & Minutes
Van Able called for any changes to the proposed agenda and corrections to the July 21, 2021 minutes. Johnson
moved to approve the minutes, Bibus seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
Van Able called for any changes to the agenda. Van Able motioned to add agenda item: Introduction of
Director of Public Works, Charles Fischer under Item 4 of the agenda and move other items down in order.
Introduction of Director of Public Works
Director of Public Works, Charles Fischer introduced himself and gave a brief work experience history to the
Subcommittee.
Preliminary Vendor Contact Update
Van Abel updated the Subcommittee about the two site visits; one with Flagstaff and the other with Ultimate
Design. Van Able included the presentation the quote and drawings from Ultimate Playgrounds and the Grant
options from Minnesota Wisconsin Playgrounds. One more site visit is scheduled for Tuesday August 24, 2021
at 11:30am and another vendor is yet to schedule a site visit. Discussion from the presentation included Bibus
commenting on Pour and Play surfacing with Johnson in agreement of the surface.
Discussion: Grant Opportunities
Van Able presented the options that apply to the City playground project scope of work. Van Able will assign
each member a group of Grants to research and bring back information to a future meeting. Fischer mentioned
other funding opportunities through local businesses or organization could be researched through the
Subcommittee.
Adjournment
The next meeting is set for September 20, 2021. Johnson moved to adjourn, seconded by Bibus at 7:30pm.
