Re: Selection of Chair and Vice Chair for 2016
Background:
Ordinance 91 provides that the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Parks and Recreation
Committee are appointed by the Commission from among the members of the Commission, subject
to approval by the Council, for a term of one year. Furthermore, the bylaws of the Parks and
Recreation Committee provide that election of officers will be held at the first meeting of March of
each year.
The Chairperson appointed in 2015 was Ryan Jinks and the Vice Chairperson was Brad Borg.
Issue:
Who should be the Chair and Vice Chairperson appointed in 2016?
Proposal Details:
The Committee can select from the following for Chair or Vice Chair for 2016: Greg Zauner, Ryan
Jinks, Terry Gorham, or Jodi Feldmann. Jodi Feldmann will not be in attendance at this meeting. As
well, there is a vacant seat. Applications were sought for a Parks and Recreation Committee
member and due to be returned to the City by noon on Wednesday, March 2. Four applications
were submitted. The City Council is expected to review the applications at their March 9 work
session.
Fiscal Impact:
None.
Recommendation:
Due to the circumstances, Staff recommends postponing the appointment of Chair and Vice Chair
until all seats are filled on the Parks and Recreation Committee.
