Meeting called to order by Patti
1. Minutes of the June 22, 2021 were reviewed.
2. Report on International online call with Scandia City Council and Mellerud’s City Council: Patti
Ray
The 2 councils had an hour conversation discussing how each city was run, the number of employees in the city
and other businesses and organizations in the area. Mellerud has a distillery and Scandia has a winery. There
was discussion of sharing some beer and wine between Councils.
There was discussion about sharing a list of contacts of interchange within each city.
3. Shipment of Wine to Mellerud: Rustic Roots Winery has agreed to donate a case of wine to be given
to the Mellerud City Council. Regulation and licensing of shipping the wine makes this very expensive.
Ideas were discussed of how to reasonably ship the case of wine to Mellerud.
Members of the Committee were going to investigate different avenues to see if there were less expensive
options.
4. Lynne Moratzka Report:
Three pages of greetings from residents attending the Farmer’s Market in August or EDA Breakfast will
be sent to Mellerud once an address is verified.
October 4 is Cinnamon Bun Day in Sweden. Gammelgården, The City Council and the Lions will be
baking, frosting and packaging almost 500 cinnamon rolls to be given to commuters driving through the
Scandia interchange between 6-8 a.m. on Monday, October 4; as well as, teachers at Scandia Elementary and
residents of Scandia Cottages.
An article was written by Mary Devine and submitted to the St. Paul Pioneer Press (published Sunday,
Octboer 3) about Cinnamon Day in Scandia.
Patti will take a video of Cinnamon Bun Distribution to send to Mellerud.
Lynne will make a sign: “Greeting from your Sister City” for a photo to be sent to Mellerud.

Vinterfest in January: some kind of promotion
Ice Sculpture in February: What? Some were excited about a Tomté because Mellerud has a Museum
featuring the Tomté.
