Since 2012, the library has been serving the Marine, Scandia, and May Township area under a unique partnership between the City of Marine, Washington County, and area residents. It is run entirely by volunteers. The library is directed by a volunteer board, made up of members of all three communities. We believe that the library makes up for its small space by the quality of its book collections, which are continually upgraded with new bestsellers and other in -demand offerings, across all genres. Since we are networked with the Washington County library system, county books also can be delivered to Marine for you to pick up, either in the library or in 24 hour accessible lockers. In addition to spring showers, April will bring a number of programs related to "The Big Read," a one book, one community program that brings together residents from throughout the St. Croix Valley around a common book. This year's book is The Grapes of Wrath, by John Steinbeck. You can learn more about Big Read activities on stcroixsplash.org. Marine Community Library regularly hosts adult education events, as listed on our website. On Thursday, April 7`h, the Marine Library Association and GreenStep City group are co -sponsoring a Solar Power Hour at the Marine Village Hall from 7-8 p.m. This is a free one -hour seminar to educate homeowners, small business owners, and farmers on the benefits of solar energy. This seminar will help you navigate the process of going solar and help you understand all options. You will also have the opportunity to meet with the highest quality local solar installers. We are hosting a poetry crawl on April 30, 2016. Watch the Country Messenger and web site for more details on this and other events. These events are free; the library does host fundraisers as well. Finally, watch for details of another summer full of literary fun for "kids" of all ages. And do stop in to get your free Marine Community Library card today! To find out what's new, to look for a particular book or author, let us know if you want to volunteer or to see upcoming events, go to our website: www.marinecommunitylibrary.org, follow us on the library Facebook page, or use the "contact us" tab to request to be on the library e-mail list.
