97_52_East-West_Grnwy_7.18.06_p4-35 Chapter Four Trail System Plan
New Scandia Township
Comprehensive Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation Plan 4-35
Adopted 18 July 2006
Status:
County Road 52 complete
Section- Washington Greenway
Courtesy Washington Co.- Not to Scale
Opportunities:
• Washington County has identified the Washington east-west Greenway to include two six- to eight-foot
paved shoulders for bicycling and one detached paved path for bicycling and inline skating
• Trail could serve as ‘short-cut’ from William O’ Brien State Park to Village Center
• Potential to take advantage of underutilized township parcels adjacent to proposed trail (e.g. Oakhill
Road & Hwy 97) to provide rest areas
• Opportunity to promote Village Center businesses
Issues:
• Bicyclists/ pedestrians risk dangerous existing conditions by sharing roadway with vehicular traffic
Length: 6+/- Miles
Route:
This trail would intersect Washington
Parkway, improving bicycle access to county,
state and local parks, local trails within the
county and beyond. It extends east-west
through New Scandia Township from
CSAH 15 (Manning Avenue) and continuing
on County Road 52.
