New Connections or Splits:
Within the past two months there has been two new force main connections. One in the Bliss and the
other in the A&E. The A&E connection was just a dual service changed into a single service for each
home. The Bliss addition is a new connection and the installation of the line to the force main proved
troublesome for the contractor. With the high-water table and the force main 8 feet below grade the
one-day dig turned into over a week-long process. We need to have a designed specification for these
new additions or splits which require new tanks, pumps, controllers, and force main connections and
adopted by the Council. Each contractor completing the recent connections had been basing these
installations on others they have done in other communities which have different specifications from
our system. Fortunately, Public Works had the opportunity to work with the contractors and discuss
what we required them to install.
Infiltration & inflow - 201 systems:
After reviewing the data from this year there has been no significant signs of I&I.
201 - Bliss:
Since the new permit was received Public Works has been working towards following the new
guidelines. The new required meters have been approved by council and now waiting for the delivery
and installation. Lift stations pumps for #3 and #4 are approved for replacement and also waiting on
delivery and installation.
Uptown:
The Uptown blower will be replaced or will have been replaced by this meeting. The replacement
schedule for this blower was for this year. My concern with this blower is that it only lasted 4 years
compared to the anticipated 7 years. An adjustment to the replacement schedule will be address in
future CIP discussions.
