GetKnitt – Ice Sculpture The Committee decided to go up to the next size sculpture. The cost is $5,000 which is discounted 20%. The cost will be covered by $2,700 from the City of Scandia and $1,000 from the City’s EDA account. The rest will be raised by donations. Remaining area businesses were divvied up among members as follows: Schlingerman-Rustic Roots, Abrahamson’s, Crabtrees and Thirsty Buffalo. Mayor Maefsky-Meister’s, Old Towne Liquor, PN Products and Scandia Veterinary Clinic. It was decided that sponsoring businesses would receive an acknowledgement in the promotional flier for a $50 donation. For $100 they could have a business coupon in the promotional material. An electronic link to a Partnership Packet that can be used for soliciting donations will be sent to all Committee members. Sarah will confirm the deadline for commitment to order and pay for the sculpture. (December 8 and half cost due at that time.) Dickens asked if Scandia’s EDA was part of the Forest Lake Chamber of Commerce which could lead to better printing rates. Cammilleri didn’t think the City has the same status as a business. The events surrounding the sculpture are scheduled for February 18 to 21st. Porubcansky asked about the skating rink as a possible event location. Mayor Maefsky expressed her desire to keep events close to local businesses. Schlingerman liked the winter aesthetic of the rink. It was also noted it would be good to have new territory for the scavenger hunt. Porubcansky moved to alternate the location of future ice sculpture events between the business area in front of church on odd years and the skating rink on even years. Dickens seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
