SUBJECT: Summary of recent actions by the City Council relating to the Planning
Commission

BACKGROUND
This memo is meant to serve as a summary of actions taken by the City Council on items reviewed by the
Planning Commission. Planning and Zoning requests (such as variances, code amendments, etc.) start
with review and recommendations made by the Planning Commission, and then are approved or denied
by the City Council.
RECENT ITEMS
Interim Use Permit
IUP & CUP amendment for a previously approved CUP for a Rural Event Facility at Rustic Roots.
o This request was approved by the City Council, as per the findings made and conditions
recommended by the Planning Commission
o The Planning Commission recommended approval of the request at the January 4th
Planning Commission meeting
Zoning Ordinance Amendment
Ordinance Amendment request by Michael Lubke to amend requirements to solar developments
and permit distribution solar in areas within the Shoreland Management Overlay.
o The Council moved to look into a moratorium on solar development in order t o study
potential changes to the current requirements.
The Council previously tabled the item at their December meeting.
o This request was reviewed and recommended for approval by the Commission on
December 7, 2021.
