10.a2 Public Comments on Tiller AOP applicationPublic Comments re: Tiller mining application

From John Lindell who owns the property adjacent to the Tiller mine.
My property address is 11240 218th St.
I will address two items.
1) The aerial photo of the mining areas and adjacent properties is not correct as shown on page
18.
The aerial photo includes my property and shows the pond behind my house. The photo shows
what my pond looked like a few years ago when it was about 1 acre in size. In the last few
years the pond has shrunk to about 2/3 of an acre.
Similarly the photo shows a small pond in the back of my property. There is no pond there - it
dried up a few years ago. Similarly there are other ponds that have dried up that were not
seasonal ponds. Specifically the pond adjacent to 218th street to the south and east of my
property.
2) Scandia govt, in all its wisdom, allowed Tiller to make deep excavations into the ground
water. When Washington County regulated Tiller (before Scandia became a city) they
absolutely would not allow excavation into the ground water.
----For these reasons I recommend that Scandia council not allow excavation into the ground
water while further analysis is done to determine why ponds are drying up near the mining
operations.
----I also recommend that Tiller's AOP approval be delayed and Tiller provides an accurate, up
to date aerial photo of the mining property and adjacent properties.
