Re: Washington County Historical Society Temporary On-Sale Liquor License
Background:
The Washington County Historical Society is planning a Beer Tasting fund-raising event on
Saturday, June 18, 2022. The event will be held at the Hay Lake School Museum complex. They
have hosted similar events every year since 2008; however, the event was not held in 2020 or
2021 due to Covid-19.
Issue:
Should the Council approve a temporary liquor license for the Washington County Historical
Society for their Beer Tasting fund-raising event on June 18, 2022?
Proposal Details:
The Washington County Historical Society has submitted the required permit application and
fee for this event. Under the City’s Code of Ordinances, Chapter 110.17 (H), the Historical
Society is eligible for a temporary license in connection with a social event sponsored by a club,
charitable, religious or other nonprofit corporation that has existed for at least three years. The
certificate of liquor liability is being processed by the organization’s insurance agent, and will
need to be received before the application is sent to the State.
Fiscal Impact:
None
Options:
1) Approve the Temporary On-Sale Liquor License for the Washington County Historical
Society for June 18, 2022 at the Hay Lake School Museum on the condition that the
certificate of liquor liability is received.
2) Do not approve the request for a license.
3) Make no decision at this meeting.
Recommendation:
Option 1.
