New PRC member Mike White announced.
Reports:
4. Lilleskogen Project update-After research into the Land and Water Conservation grant,Anne
reports the deadline would be the end of March and construction ready plans would be needed
by this time including a site plan and public hearing. Committee members decided this was not
feasible in this time period,and it would be best to instead move forward with an estimate for
plans to proceed to get site construction ready and consider applying for grant in future when
we are ready for site work, parking area construction and trail improvement. Anne mentioned
the possibility of a demonstration project on the parking lot with permeable pavement. Anne
will contact Tom Triplett of the Friends of the Parks to inform of our decision
S. City Council Meeting-Alex reported to council about grant agreement on the Bike Trail Plan. A
contract will need to be approved and plan completed by June.
6. Guest Presentation-Dan Hames from the Scandia-Marine Lions presented a proposa)for a
Medallion Hunt for the City of Scandia using Park locations during Taco Daze. The Lions would
offer buttons for sale to promote if the City Council approves. Wind in the Pines Park would not
be included in medallion hunt and rules would include no digging, moving of playground or park
equipment and would not involve private property,climbing etc. The committee gave general
approval to the idea.
7. Vinterfest report-Vinterfest was well attended,the first annual chili cookoff was a success as
well as the addition of music and the beautiful weather! Alex reported he had inquiries about
booths and sales at the event,and it was decided that vendors would not be invited.
8. Park dedication fees-the city is in the process of rewriting the development code for
subdivisions—there is a work session with the planning commission and will come to the
committee when it is ready for review.
9. March meeting-discuss summer programs as brochure need to be finished by the end of the
month,fastpitch players will be invited to the meeting to discuss renaming the "lighted ball
field".
