Dear Anne Hurlburt,
CITY OF SCANDIA
I am writing to tell you about the Association for Nonsmokers -Minnesota's (ANSR) statewide program called
Tobacco -Free Youth Recreation (TFYR). TFYR models and promotes healthy tobacco -free lifestyles for
youth recreation and sports. We do this through assisting communities in adopting tobacco -free policies in
public parks and other outdoor recreational facilities. Over the past ten years, 140 cities have adopted a
tobacco -free policy for their park system to provide a healthier park experience for children and families.
We have worked with nearly every community in the state that has adopted a tobacco -free policy and have
expert staff to answer any question you may have about tobacco -free parks. We would really enjoy working
with your organization to help you adopt a tobacco -free parks policy. TFYR can assist you through this
entire process, from helping to gather input from surrounding communities and residents, to helping you
enforce your policy once it has been adopted.
Along with our free resources and materials, which you can find at www.tobaccofreeparks.ore,
we would like to invite you to a free webinar to introduce you to the benefits of tobacco -free parks!
