Vogen, Tom Triplett, Matt Rasmussen, Alex Bildeaux, Joan Benner
Members Absent: None
Guests: Anne Hurlburt
1. Trollhaugen Tubing Event- Karen provided a summary of the activity, stating
that it was generally successful. However, there were reportedly only 29 residents
in attendance, roughly half of last year's participation. Discussion ensued
regarding possible causes and the value of considering the event next year. No
consensus wasreached.
2. Vinterfest- A final planning discussion was had and activity assignments were
made.
3. Friends of Scandia Parks- Tom Triplett provided an update, reporting:
• The roster is up to 130 with 55 to 60 paid;
• He will promote the organization at future Lions Club meetings;
• The official website (scandiaparks.org) is up and running;
• The first official meeting will be January 29, at which time the board of
directors will be elected (10% attendance required far the vote to stand);
• Incorporation will occur soon;
• Tom will resign from the P&R committee to focus on Friends.
4. 2009 Rec Programs- Discussion tabled as the plan has not yet been provided by
Marty.
5. Spring Event- Possibilities for a Spring volunteer activity were discussed by the
committee:
• Buckthorn removal at WIP or Lilleskogen;
• Clearing debris at WIP
• Roadside cleaning, particularly near boat landings (received most
support).
6. Park Rules- The draft ordinance was discussed briefly. The subject of allowing
liquor in Scandia Parks was hotly debated without consensus.
7. Approval of Minutes- Minutes from Dec 9, 2008 were unanimously approved.
