Monday, May 7, 2007; 7PM
Members Present: Dave Smith, Karen Schik, Alex Bildeaux, Ron Couture, Mike Goeken, Matt
Rasmussen, and Dan Skupien. Guests: Anne Hurlburt, Mike Harnetty
1. Review and Approve Agenda and PRC Minutes of 4/2/07
Motion: Goeken/Skupien
2. PRC Goals document draft
Document revisions will be made as discussed. Schik will present the updated document to
City Council (CC) on 5/15/07.
3. Scandia Recreation Programs
Discussion regarding program offerings 8s registration followed. Home 8s Garden show may not
occur, due to insufficient committed participation to-date.
4. Other Committees
a. Comprehensive Plan (CPC) Representative: Schik
CPC is working with consultant to survey and make presentation to the
public...expected timing is Aug/Sept `07.
b. Capital Improvements (CIC) Representative: Goeken
CIC's first meeting is May lOth. Smith will compile first draft of PRC capital projects.
c. Taco Daze (TDC�
Smith attended previous week's TDC meeting. PRC agreed to have a booth again
this year. Skupien 8v Rasmussen agreed to organize the DodgeBall tourney. T-shirt
concession discussion followed.
5. Old Business
a. Old Lions/new Lilleskogen Park
CC approved PRC recommendation to rename park 8s abandon lst 8s 3ra Ave easements.
b. Wind in the Pines (WIP) Park
Schik presented the `Proposed Trail Erosion Work for WIP Park' document to PRC. This
is a revision to the original approach to utilize the grant towards a Management Plan, as
grant dollars must be applied to implementation efforts only. Bildeaux offered use of a
low-impact material mover, if this could stretch grant dollars. Schik will pursue
whether this is possible.
Motion to present proposal to CC: Goeken/Skupien. Passes unanimously.
6. Other Business
Hurlburt explained recent complaints from residents regarding lack of central coordination of
ball diamond reservations. This season's scheduling conflicts were resolved and interested
parties will be contacted at the conclusion of the season (by the Recreation Coordinator) in
order to organize scheduling and establish reservation policies.
